Mediation has enjoyed spectacular success in resolving disputes in all sectors, from complex multi-party litigation to relatively simple problems. A successful mediation requires the intervention of someone who both understands the facts and other issues giving rise to the dispute but also has an ability to analyse what really separates the parties and what is most important to them. Julian first became interested in mediation in the late 1980s when he and several others came together to discuss alternative, and better, ways of resolving disputes. This group subsequently founded the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution(“ CEDR”). From the outset in the early 1990s CEDR was, and remains, the foremost organisation involved with Alternative Dispute Resolution in this country. |

Julian was one of the first accredited mediators in the UK and attended the inaugural 2 day training session held by CEDR. He was a director of CEDR from inception in the early 1990s until November 2000. He is a member of the Construction Contracts Mediation Group (now part of Resolex) and on the panel of mediators for ADR Chambers.
Julian has been involved in very many mediations, predominantly in the engineering and construction sectors but is equally happy providing assistance in many other areas. For example, a recent dispute mediated by him involved high performance racing cars at the Le Mans 24 hour race.
Julian brings to a mediation nearly 30 years experience of dispute resolution, both as a solicitor and as a mediator and adjudicator.
